Faith in Action

At St Mary’s, our Catholic faith is not simply something we learn about — it is something we live. Inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus, we encourage every child to recognise that they can make a positive difference in our school, our community and our wider world.

Through Catholic Social Teaching, children learn about the dignity of every person, our responsibility to care for God’s creation, the importance of peace and justice, and our call to stand alongside those who are poor, vulnerable or in need. These teachings help our children understand that faith should shape the choices we make, the way we treat others and the way we care for our world.

Our school values are rooted in these principles of Catholic Social Teaching and give our children a simple, meaningful way to put their Faith in Action every day. We encourage them to Be Loving, Be Caring, Be Forgiving, Be Generous, Be United and Be Brave.

Faith in Action can be seen throughout the life of our school — in our prayer and worship, charitable giving, care for our common home, service to others and willingness to speak up for what is right. Just as importantly, it can be found in the small, everyday acts of kindness, forgiveness, courage, generosity and love that make St Mary’s the community it is.

We actively recognise and celebrate children who demonstrate these values through our Faith in Action Award, helping children understand that Catholic life is not simply about what we believe, but about putting those beliefs into action and living as Jesus taught us to live.
