Our School

Welcome to St Mary’s – a small, family-oriented school rooted in love, set in the beautiful surroundings of the Ribble Valley in the village of Chipping. While we are proud of our village setting, we also serve families from Longridge and the surrounding areas, and we are a small school that is growing.

At St Mary’s, every child is known, valued and cherished. With three mixed-age classrooms and a pre-school, we create a close-knit, nurturing environment where children feel safe, happy and ready to thrive. Our children are happy here, and our staff are too – something visitors often notice as soon as they walk through our doors.

Our Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do. We believe strongly in faith in action—living out our values through kindness, service and compassion. Our school values are rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, helping children understand their role in building a fairer, more just world. Alongside this, we actively promote British values, encouraging respect, tolerance, responsibility and a strong sense of community.

We are a forward-thinking school, committed to high-quality, evidence-informed teaching and learning. We strive to give every child the very best start in life—developing confident learners, resilient individuals and young people who are well-prepared for successful futures. We aim to inspire a love of learning that lasts a lifetime and support every child to grow, achieve and truly thrive.

We are proud to be an inclusive school. We warmly welcome children and families of all faiths and backgrounds. Although we are a Catholic school, many of our pupils are not Catholic, and we celebrate the richness that diversity brings to our community. We encourage all our children to be respectful, open-minded and curious about the world around them.

We would love you to come and see our school for yourself. You are very welcome to visit at any time—no appointment is necessary. Please feel free to call in or contact the school office on 01995 61367 to speak with Mrs Katie Jones, Headteacher, or Mrs Lisa Cookson, School Business Manager, who will be happy to help with any enquiries.
