We recently received a visit from the Paralympian Beverely Jones. She has competed in the 2004 Paralympic Sumer Games in Athens (Shot Put – 4th place), 2006 Commonwealth Games (T37 Sprinting – Bronze), 2008 Paralympic Summer Games in Bejing (Shot Put – 5th place, Discus 7th), 2011 IPC Athletics World Championships in New Zealand (Discus – Silver), 2012 Paralympic Summer Games in London (Discus – Bronze), 2016 Paralympic Summer Games in Rio (Discus 5th place).
The children had a day of sports and completed circuits doing: Spotty Dogs, Leg Drives, Full/Half Press Ups and Star Jumps. Beverley has cerebral palsy and came into school to speak to the children about her sporting achievements; despite having a disability (and even gave tips on discus throwing). The children really enjoyed the day and she was a real inspiration – emphasising that you can do anything and should never give up on your dreams.
